Grape Crush

Grape Crush might be one of the most widely distributed grape sodas in the U.S. and it bears a classic and bold grape soda flavor. Crush is well-known for its fruit flavored soda and does not disappoint here, giving consumers an artificially flavored soda with no caffeine and a taste the company states "stomps back".

I'm completely in line with their thinking. The flavor itself is not overpowering but definitely grape. A definite artificial grape we sugar junkies know and love compared to the less sweet flavor of natural grape juice. The carbonation is perfect for the flavor, however it gives the beverage a less soda feel and more of a thick, and sugary, juice beverage. I chose the glass bottles to test since I luckily found a deal online for a case with no shipping costs and I have to say, after a few days of only grape soda I've not lost my taste for it. With many fruit sodas, I find the taste eventually gets old and you want to move back to cola or something else, but here I've not lost it and I'm actually disappointed there are only 3 left in the fridge.

Overall, Grape Crush is a leading grape soda on the market and my favorite. As I continue to blog I look forward to trying more grape sodas, more of Crush's fruit flavors, and finding the best grape has to offer from around the world.

Overall Taste: 8.0 - Great fruit soda and smooth
Fizz Factor: 6.5 - Typical of a fruit soda, but still feel the carbonation
Appearance: 7.5 - Dark...and mysterious.
Flavor: 8.5 - Classic artificial grape and not too syrupy

From the company: 20oz bottle has 320 calories, 110mg of sodium, 86g of carbs, 83g of sugar, and 0g of protein.

Is it Fate?

Why, on the week I begin a blog about soda, does my local Stop & Shop get a shipment of Mexican Coke, Sprite and Fanta? Is it fate? I think so.

"You did Mammy but I'm just all full of Fanta tonight!"

This is my fridge right now (see pic). At $1.39 a bottle I needed to stock up for multiple reasons. First, Mexican Coke, Sprite and Fanta would make great reviews on this blog. Second, the all natural cane sugar taste of Mexican Coke is absolutely delicious and worth spending the extra dough. I've never even tried Mexican Sprite or Fanta...I can't wait! Third, I need to get it while the gettins good. Stop & Shop will probably not be making monthly purchases for soda from over the border so while its in stock I should, like I said, stock up.

On a side note, I think I have something to do with Stop & Shop buying these in the first place. For the past, oh, let's say 4 years I've been buying the 8 oz glass bottle 6-packs when I could get my hands on them. For maybe the past year I've really ramped up my purchases and recently the store began carrying Diet Coke in glass bottles as well. I started buying those too, if not just to try. So I think maybe Stop & Shop looked for more glass bottle sodas...bigger bottles...I don't know. All I do know is that Stop & Shop just supplied me with Mexican Coke and a great assortment of soda to launch this blog.
