Blue Meth Candy

"Say my name." - Walter White
FOTB and overall superstar Melissa again comes through with a delicious treat right from her own kitchen: blue meth candy. While brainstorming ideas for her daughter's birthday cake she decided on a Disney's Frozen cake and what better way to make Elsa's palace from the movie than clear blue hard candy. One of the benefits of being Melissa's friend is that the hard candy she made to practice in preparation for the final cake becomes a treat for me and the rest of her friends. Fans of the show Breaking Bad will also see a little bit of Walt's blue meth in the look, color and glass-like pieces that make up this wonderful treat. The taste is pretty good too and likened to a Jolly Rancher watermelon, although I detect a hint of something else in there, maybe even blueberry. Although, that could be the meth talking.

Grape My Weakness

Congratulations to my friend Jennifer Mitchell Hartford on her recent marriage! Here's to many long years of happiness with your hubby Billy.

The wedding of my long time friend had an added benefit for me as at each table, at each seat, was a pair of grape flavored hard candy sticks, symbolizing the union of two wonderful individuals. At the end of the night when saying goodbye to my friend Jen, I thanked her for everything, including the sticks. Her reply? Take them all. Take every damn stick I can carry out of there. Most people had left them on the tables and she instructed me to take them or they might go to waste. She may have been drunk.

So on my way out the door I grabbed 30 sticks, maybe 40...who knows? I had already eaten 5 or 6 before I counted my haul, which lasted me the entire week. They were good too! My penchant for grape obviously biased my opinion, but Gilliam's Old-fashioned Stick Candy is quite delicious. I would like to try other flavors, so I'm crossing my fingers that this becomes a wedding tradition, or at least a fad, and my friends and readers will invite me to any forth coming nuptials.
No no no Jen, thaaaank youuu!
